Summer Term

We hope you have all had a great Easter Holidays and are looking forward to the Summer term. This term our topic is going to be focusing on 'heroes' We will start off by looking at the story of 'Silly Doggy', We will then move on to the story 'Supertato.' The children will be looking at pets and how we look after animals and what jobs vets do. They will also be looking at other people who help us in the community and how they are real life superheroes before moving onto fictional superheroes. We have planned many interesting activities both indoors and outdoors based on this theme. Through these stories we will be learning about all different forms of transport as well as London. Copies of these stories can be located below.

The children have P.E lessons every Friday. The children are able to come into school in their PE kit on Friday and wear this throughout the day. Please bring jumpers and trousers for colder days.

We will send home book bags and reading diaries daily which should also come into school everyday. We will keep them on a Thursday night and send them home again on Friday with new reading books in ready for the weekend.

Remember to look on Tapestry frequently to see some of the amazing things we are getting up to! We will continue to keep updating Tapestry with any important information as well as any observations we make on your children. Alternatively we would love you to upload anything that your child is doing at home as we love to learn about your child's learning journey at home.

Phonics Parent Video

Historically in the Autumn term we would welcome you into school to talk about your child’s reading and phonics journey. Sadly, with the current pandemic this is not something that we are able to do .We tried a zoom session last year but understand how difficult this can be with work and childcare commitments as well as the dreaded technical issues that frequently arise! This year we have tried something a bit different. The staff from Nursery, Reception and Year One have come together to make a video for you. Please don’t expect any wonderful acting or photography but we are hoping that this makes your child’s phonic journey a little bit clearer to you. Please find the link below so that you can watch it in your leisure.

Water Bottles

All children have been given a school water bottle. This needs to be brought to school each day having been washed and re filled with fresh water from home. Children will be reminded at the end of the day to bring home their lunch bag and water bottle to be washed ready for the next day. We have turned off our water filter system so children will not be able to fill up their water bottle in the usual way. All classes have access to drinking water throughout the day should the children require extra water.

Please ensure your child brings a coat to school each day. We had a rainy start to the term but we are trying as much as possible to allow the children their outdoor breaks which may mean us putting coats on to go out in the rain as much as possible without getting too wet. Please ensure all coats are clearly named.
