Welcome to Shavington Primary School

Autumn Term

Welcome to the start of our academic year 2017-2018!

An especially warm welcome to all our new Reception children and their families as they start their very first year at school! Also a warm welcome our new children and their families who have recently moved into the area.

There has been a great deal going on at school during the summer holidays as the start of extensive buidling project began.  Any new academic year presents us all with new things to think about and new routines and for us as a school this year will present all the regular challenges but of course there will be more challenge and adventure with the excitement of our significant 12 month build project.

As you know from our communications with parents there has been significant work done on our school and this will continue throughout the year. We appreciate all parents’ support with this as we endeavour to ensure our school provides the best possible opportunities and experiences for all our children and their families.

I am personally very proud of all the staff and the children. Staff have worked tirelessly to provide engaging, inspiring learning environments, which the children are finding their way around and starting their new year with confidence. I am also so very proud of the way our children have come back to school smart and ready to learn. They are having to get to know lots of new routines and embedding these is important for us all.

We look forward to the first term of this academic year with increased challenge and oportunities for all.

Our School

Welcome back to a very exciting year at Shavongton Primary School.

We are a happy school where children enjoy learning and are given every opportunity to succeed. We are proud of our children and value hard work and enjoyment. We aim to create the right environment for our children to learn. Through our vibrant and creative curriculum we strive for all our children to achieve their full potential and develop the necessary skills and confidence to succeed in their lives.

We have a committed and dedicated team at Shavington Primary School who work very hard to make sure that our children achieve and succeed. We plan careful learning experiences for the children that include residential visits and exciting activities that ensure the children engage with their own learning and develop the whole child.

As I am sure you have noticed we have been very busy over the summer demolishing KS2 in preparation for our new KS2 and hall to be built. We have also re designed part of KS1 to make sure that the children have a fantastic learning environment as they move into Year 1 and 2 which has meant moving the offices and the staffroom. Those of you who have children in Year 1 I am sure you will agree that the new classroom space is everything we could have hoped for.

I have been meeting with the architects, builders and project managers over the summer to make sure that the new build is exactly what we need and has all the space and facilities to give the children the best possible experience. There will be an opportunity for parents to come and see the plans over the next few weeks once things are finalised so please watch out for the invitation to that event.

I appreciate that building work during the school year is disruptive and can be noisy, but due to all of the preparation work that we have done, including the mobile classrooms, which we are very pleased with, we will keep disruption to a minimum. What we are creating will be a fantastic facility for the children for a long time and we want to get it right whilst ensuring the standards for the children this year.

This is a very exciting project and all staff are working incredibly hard to make sure that the children's experiences this year are exciting and include elements of learning around the building.

As with all projects of this size there may well be some unexpected issues however we would ask all parents to work with us during this time to make sure that issues are resolved quickly. Please do talk to us if there are any problems.
