Hockey Success at Crewe Vagrants
Last night, two teams of hockey players proudly represented Shavington Primary School at the hockey tournament held at Crewe Vagrants. It was an evening of excellent hockey, with all of our pupils playing in brilliant fashion and demonstrating great respect, resilience and sportsmanship throughout the competition. Both teams performed exceptionally well across the evening and picked up some fantastic results against strong opposition. We are delighted that both teams finished in the top four, which is a tremendous achievement. The Shavington A Team notched up an impressive three wins and finished with a positive goal difference, requiring some determined and battling performances throughout the tournament. Meanwhile, the Shavington B Team enjoyed an outstanding evening, winning four matches and remaining unbeaten throughout the competition. Their excellent performances saw them finish in first place on goal difference, securing qualification for the County Finals in 2027. A massive congratulations to all of the players involved. This is the third consecutive year that Shavington pupils have battled their way through to county-level competition, and we are incredibly proud that our school will once again be represented on the county stage. We would like to wish the Shavington B Team the very best of luck at the County Finals. Finally, a huge thank you to Mr Slaney and Mr Hazeldine for organising and coaching the teams, and to Miss Watson for supporting the children throughout the event. Well done to everyone involved for being fantastic representatives for Shavington Primary School! 🏑👏
T1 Rugby Event
Last week, a group of children proudly represented the school at the T1 Rugby event. This was a new format of rugby, replacing tag rugby, and the children adapted to it exceptionally well. The organisers were highly complimentary about how quickly the children understood the rules and tactics of the game. Their enthusiasm, teamwork and understanding of play were evident throughout the event. The rugby on display was fantastic, with both Shavington teams performing brilliantly and securing a number of impressive victories. A particular highlight was the Shavington v Shavington match, which was a closely contested and high-quality game that ended in a well-deserved draw, reflecting the skill and determination shown by both teams. A huge thank you to our rugby-playing teacher, Mr Maloney, for coaching and preparing the children so successfully. We would also like to thank Mr Hazeldine and Mr Slaney for their support at and on the run up to the event. Well done to all of the children involved for representing the school so positively and with such excellent sportsmanship. 🏉
Shavington Primary Pupil Takes Gold at County Gymnastics Final
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Katy represented Shavington Primary School at the county final gymnastics competition and came 1st place! What an incredible achievement! Yesterday, our Year 6s took part in a netball competition and we couldn't be prouder of them! They showed incredible teamwork, determination and sportsmanship throughout the day. Our pupils have shown real creativity and community spirit in designing these eye-catching posters. They've thought carefully about how to get an important message across in a fun and engaging way. Year 5/6 Dodgeball Team Shine at Competition
Shavington Primary School's Year 5/6 dodgeball team delivered an outstanding performance at yesterday's dodgeball competition, demonstrating exceptional teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the event. The pupils represented our school brilliantly, showcasing the values we hold dear both on and off the court. Their determination, mutual support and positive attitude were evident from start to finish. Throughout the competition, our team worked cohesively, communicating effectively and encouraging one another at every opportunity. Their ability to work together as a unit was particularly impressive, with pupils supporting teammates and celebrating each other's successes. The team conducted themselves impeccably, acting as wonderful ambassadors for Shavington Primary School. Their respectful behaviour, gracious attitude and commitment to fair play did not go unnoticed by staff, parents and other schools in attendance. We are incredibly proud of every pupil who took part. They gave their absolute best, demonstrated our school values perfectly, and created memories that will last a lifetime. A huge well done to our Year 5/6 dodgeball team – you were all stars!
Year 3 & 4 Gymnastics Competition
Our Year 3 and 4 pupils have made us incredibly proud with their outstanding performance at a recent gymnastics competition. The team demonstrated exceptional skill, dedication, and sportsmanship throughout the event, showcasing the hard work they've put into their gymnastics training. Their performance was a true reflection of the values we promote at Shavington Primary School. We're delighted to announce that Katy secured 1st place in the individual section of the competition – a fantastic achievement! Katy's determination, focus, and talent were evident throughout her routine, and she thoroughly deserved this recognition. Well done to all our gymnasts – you've made Shavington Primary School very proud!

We're delighted to share that we've donated a total of 183 boxes for this wonderful cause, and they are now on their way to Bosnia. Opal Play Day!
Thank you so much for joining us to see our OPAL programme in action! It was wonderful to welcome so many of you and share the exciting learning experiences our children enjoy outdoors. Seeing your enthusiasm and interest in how our pupils learn and develop through outdoor play was truly heartwarming. Your support means a great deal to our school community and helps us continue to provide rich, engaging experiences for all our children. We hope you enjoyed seeing the children explore, create, and learn in our outdoor environment, and that you left with a real sense of the benefits this approach brings to their development and wellbeing.

County Finals in Alderley Edge
Today we attended the County Finals in Alderley Edge. 14 schools battled it out to become the champions of Cheshire. There was plenty of competitive play and superb hockey skills on display. As a team, we played much better than we did in the Crewe and Nantwich finals night but this was still not quite enough to get to the top today. We notched up 1 win and 3 draws in the process. In some of the games, we just had no luck and narrowly missed shots, important touches and being just outside the areas of shooting. The final standings had us in 11th place but the performances we put in deserved a higher finish. Our thanks to the CNSSP and organiser Chris Hughes for putting on the events leading up to this. It is clear to see he does a great job! The children had a great day and were a credit to the school. Many thanks to them all for their efforts over the last 3 rounds. It was a great achievement to get to where we are
