About our Nursery:

The Nursery class is led by a Teacher and two Early Years Assistants. Children are encouraged to participate in a range of stimulating, fun learning activities to prepare them for school including phonics, sounds time, pencil control, group activities and much much more. Our Nursery Class ensures that every child gains the most from their nursery experience and helps make their journey into reception an easy and happy one.

Our nursery class is in a bright open-plan space for children aged 3-4. The nursery class room is set up for learning through play, with a role play, small world toys, story corner, block play, mark making, creative area and a mud kitchen amongst others.

Summer Term

This term we will be looking at some new topics 'The seaside' and 'On Safari '.

The seaside

We will be reading the stories, 'Clem and Crab' and 'The See Saw'. We will be thinking about our environment and how to look after it by making sure we put or rubbish in the bin and not littering so we don't hurt the animals. We will have a teddy's bear picnic with Year 3 to enjoy the beautiful environment of our school grounds.

Clem and crab         The see saw

On Safari.

Nursery will be learning about how other countries are different to ours, how they have different environments, animals and how people do things using the story 'Lila and the secret of Rain'. We will create different models of animals, make binoculars to spot animals from our role play safari jeep and paint some beautiful sunsets using water colours.

Lila and the secret of rain

As our older children get ready to move up to Reception we will also be doing lots of transition activities within the Reception classroom and with the staff

Tapestry

Remember to look on Tapestry frequently to see some of the amazing things we are getting up to! We will continue to keep updating Tapestry with any important information as well as any observations we make on your children. Alternatively we would love you to upload anything that your child is doing at home as we love to learn about your child's learning journey at home.

Phonics Parent Video

Historically in the Autumn term we would welcome you into school to talk about your child’s reading and phonics journey. Sadly, with the current pandemic this is not something that we are able to do .We tried a zoom session last year but understand how difficult this can be with work and childcare commitments as well as the dreaded technical issues that frequently arise! This year we have tried something a bit different. The staff from Nursery, Reception and Year One have come together to make a video for you. Please don’t expect any wonderful acting or photography but we are hoping that this makes your child’s phonic journey a little bit clearer to you. Please find the link below so that you can watch it in your leisure.
