The Learning for Life Proud to be part of The Learning for Life

Headteacher's Welcome

Kind        Safe      Ready

A warm welcome to the Shavington Primary website. I hope from looking through the pages you will get a sense of the inclusive, friendly and happy school Shavington is. In the absence of Mr McDowell, I am currently interim head teacher and very much enjoying the time spent with the Shavington community. As an experienced head teacher and Director of Primary for The Learning Partnership (TLP) I am supporting the school to be the best it can be.

The 3 key priorities we are working on are:

  1. Reviewing the behaviour policy and implementation of this
  2. Improving outcomes in writing
  3. Ensuring high quality teaching in every classroom

I truly believe that for pupils to achieve their full potential, they need to be happy, feel safe and have the best teachers. I also believe that parents and carers play a pivotal role in their child's development and as such, home school relationships should be a priority.

If you would like to visit the school at any time, please contact the school office.

I look forward to welcoming you.

Interim Head teacher

To our present and future parents & carers within the Shavington community,

We hope that you are able to find a wealth of information about our fantastic school here. We are currently working hard to update and improve the information available on our website - please do bear with us while we do so.

Shavington Primary is a two-form entry school where our aim is to foster a positive mindset of 'learning for life' for all our children. We provide a challenging yet exciting curriculum; bringing learning to life and providing our children with a range of opportunities that enrich and embed their learning and experiences. We pride ourselves on providing a warm, nurturing environment for our learners and families with a caring, kind and committed team who are always there to help and support our children and families wherever we can.

You will see that we are a community who celebrates everyone as unique; we harness the ‘No Outsider’s’ agenda to inform our ethos of empathy and compassion. We help our children to understand the importance of kindness to others and celebrate difference through a range of curriculum work that focuses on Protected Characteristics and the Equality Act. Our holistic approaches in school contribute to laying the foundations for life-long learning and, in partnership with our families, gives our children what they need to become kind, respectful, self-confident, resilient and responsible as both learners and citizens; preparing for young adulthood and beyond.

With wrap-around provision and a wealth of extra-curricular activities offered throughout the academic year, we aim to provide as much opportunity for our children to help them discover skills and talents and to maximise their learning experiences.

We are very proud of our school and the children within it as they embrace our culture of ‘learning for life!’  Our staff team share this philosophy which shapes and enhances our practice and provision.

It is a pleasure to welcome you to our school. We look forward to working in partnership with you!

Kind regards,

Mr McDowell
