Year1 blog week beginning 6.11.17

Date: 12th Nov 2017 @ 12:49pm

In maths the children have been learning about number bonds to ten.  They need to be able to automatically say which two numbers added together make ten.  For example, six and four make ten, two and eight make ten and one and nine make ten.  This is something that you could practise at home.

The class are also learning how to add single digit numbers together using a number line to help them.  Here are some pictures of the children adding numbers together during their maths lessons.

in English lessons we have been exploring the features of non-fiction books.  We have looked at captions, headings and subheadings and an index and contents page.  We would appreciate your support with reading.  As with any skill, reading often for short periods of time is the best approach.  The children benefit from frequent reading.  Please record any reading your child does at home in their diaries.
