Week Beginning 8th May

An exciting delivery arrived in Reception this week! You'll never guess what was inside....

It was caterpillars! That's right, we have got our very own caterpillars as this week our learning has been based around The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We have been taking great care of our caterpillars and have been learning all about them. We have learnt about their life cycle and how they will turn into butterflies and we have also learnt some very cool facts! We've learnt that caterpillars can spin webs and that as a caterpillar gets bigger they shed their exoskeletons! We have also learnt a lovely sing about the life cycle of a caterpillar and we are very good at singing it.

This week in Literacy we have been reading the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and have enthusiastically shared our prior knowledge and experiences of the story. We have also had lots of fun writing the story up. In Maths we have been practising the days of the week and are getting very good at them.

We are looking forward to another exciting week and will be observing our caterpillars closely to see if anything changes!
