week beginning 17.10.16

Date: 31st Oct 2016 @ 8:48am

We have had a great last few weeks of term. We have all finished making our delicious three bears cakes with us all now being star bakers- watch out junior bake off you might see our faces very soon! In English we have been looking at repeating patterns in books. First we looked at the story Dig, Dig, Digging and we quickly learned the rhythm of the story. We used this to help us think about our free play and how we used words ending in the suffix ing in our everyday life, and we came up with loads of great examples.  Then we looked at the book Monkey Puzzle and we used the pattern of the book to help with our own writing. We also did some acting in the hall and there were some fantastic spiders, snakes, bats and monkeys. In maths we have been looking at how to use what we have learnt in adding and taking away to spot different number sentences and how we can pick different resources in the class to help us with our learning. In topic we have been thinking about how some materials change and why they do and we have been using our describing words to talk about what happens. We have also been using different diagrams to put different objects into different groups, as well as thinking about what materials would be best suited to different jobs. We are really enjoying our French lessons with Madame Sharpe, learning lots of songs as well as a few key phrases and out colours. In PE we are continuing to work on our movement skills and how to work well as a team, which has linked into this terms focus of teamwork. We are all getting a lot better at changing our direction of movement and thinking about how we can help other people on our team.
