School Governors

Shavington Primary School Governors act as a “critical friend” to the Head Teacher. This means they involve themselves in the day to day life of the school, gain experience of how the school works and offer friendly advice rather than negative criticism. At Shavington we have 18 Governors – four are Staff Governors (including the Head), six are Parent Governors, four are Community Governors and four are Local Authority appointed (Cheshire East) Governors.

What binds all of us regardless of our Governor status is the key question “what is the best thing for the school and the children who attend it both now and in the future”. If you want to know more about the who, what, why and when of Governorship at Shavington please click here to download a PDF (about 1mb) of a comprehensive and informative guide entitled “The Role & Responsibilities of a Governor of Shavington Primary School”. If you would like to meet the Chair of Governors for whatever reason please contact the school office or the Head Teacher in the first instance.
