INTERNET SAFETY
Computing at Shavington
With all the new technology that children use today, it is important to keep them safe. At Shavington, we make sure that children enjoy technology and ensure that they use it to enhance their learning. However, we make sure that the children are aware of the risks and know how to use technology safely.
Safer Internet Day
Althougth we cover online safety during our Computing sessions, and in any other sessions where the children might be accessing the internet, we also take part in Safer Internet Day every year. As part of this, we spend the day engaging in tasks with a focus of how to stay safe online. These activites and resources are provided by the UK Safer Internet Centre. More information regarding this can be found at: https://www.saferinternet.org.uk/
As well as a section for schools and teachers, there is also a section, on the above website, for parents and carers offering advice to support children to stay safe online at home: https://www.saferinternet.org.uk/advice-centre/parents-and-carers We also offer annual workshops for parents to attend which offers practical support for parents to help and support their children in this way. This year NSPCC delivered our workshop.
